Sharepoint Permissions

I have a security group that has permissions for View Documents. They also
have access to view all projects and all resources. (They are Executives.)
They can read documents posted in a project's sharepoint folder but can not
save.

Any idea what the issue might be? I don't have to assign them as team
members in each project do I?
