SharePoint Site not showing up in SSP- Web Application drop down

S

Siva

I created a new SharePoint Site and it seems to be working fine. This site is
not showing up in the Shared Services Provider - Web Application drop down.
Is there is anything I am missing?

Thanks
Siva

Hi Siva,
A SharePoint site will not show up in this list.
Only Web Applications will show up in the drop down list.

You need to create a Web Application not a SharePoint Site if you need it to
appear in the Web Application drop down list.

It is a web application. I already have one other web application that shows
up in the list but this does not. Both have same configuration and setup. Is
there is any place I can see the difference between two?

In SharePoint Central Administration. The Application Tab > Web application
List.

If it is not in this list it is not a web application.

Go back and delte the application and use the checkbox to delete the content
as well.

Recreate the web application as you did before but this time used dedicated
sql account instead of chosing "Network Account"

Restart IIS and you should be good.

Did my last reply post?

Delete your web application and chose to delete the content database as
well. Confirm on SQL that the database has been removed.

Recreate the web application as you had done so before using the same
information but this time use a dedicated sql account instead of using
"Network Service" credentials for authentication under application pool
credentials.

Chose to restart IIS manually for best practices.
Create Application and it should be in the drop down after you restart IIS.

You can probably keep the content database if you have a lot of content and
repoint the application to the old database.

awesome. Thank you very much that worked. I have one issue after that. I am
trying to create PWA site and it say "Failed - see the event log". I don't
see any event logs in the event viewer. Can you help?
