SharePoint TeamServices Subweb does not create automatically or manually

I have Project Server 2002 and Sharepoint TeamServices running on one
box with Windows 2000 Server. Project Server is working properly, but
SharePoint is having issues creating subwebs.

When a project is saved and published, it appears in the Project
Center. However, the published project appears in SharePoint and when
I click on it I get a message saying that a subweb needs to be
created.

SharePoint is configured to create the subweb automatically. However,
it won't create a subweb manually either. When I go to create the
subweb manually, I select the project in the Provision a Subweb drop
down window and then I click on Create Subweb. Then, I get an error
message that says: "Error occurred when creating a subweb. Subweb
does not seem to exist."

However, a project id is assigned to the project name in the subweb
box, but it doesn't have a subweb address. When I check it in the
SharePoint Administration site, it shows the subweb listed, but when I
click on the subweb address, it gives me the "You are not authorized
to view this page" HTTP error 403 message.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Michele

I have been struggling to solve the same problem as
mentioned by Michele, it was working before. For the new
projects published when I click on the subweb address, it
gives me the "You are not authorized
to view this page" HTTP error 403 message.
For the previous projects the subweb opens the sharepoint
website.
Any ideas appreciated to resolve this problem.

Regards,
David.

I called Microsoft and they spent 2 hours with me fixing the problem.
This is a well known issue that they have been having for months. The
following articles (322235,819638,819640)touch upon the topics, but it
might not fix the issue directly. My issue involved a conflict between
the FrontPage extensions and SharePoint. We ended up turning the
FrontPage extensions off, uninstalling SharePoint and then
reinstalling it.

Hope that helps.....

On the server, we navigated to Start, Settings, Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, and select
Internet Information Services (IIS) and click Details. There we
unchecked the option box for FrontPage 2000 Web Server Extensions.

Thanks, Michele. If I have all the projects already
published & I reinstall Sharepoint to rectify the error.
Will the automatic subweb creation work fine for the
projects if I republish the projects? Did it give any
error after reinstallation.

David
