Needed to create a new Sharepoint Template/Site Definition for MS Project
Server 2003.
1. Followed the MS instructions called "Creating Custom Site Definition for
Project Web" then Reset IIS
2. Logged into Project Server--> Admin--> Manage Windows Sharepoint
Services--> Site Provisioning Settings and saw my new site def in the
template list.
Selected this new template and saved.
3. Exit PS Web Site
4. Logged into Project Server and tried to create a new web site for a
project.
Got the (most helpful) error "Error occurred when creating site. Site does
not seem to exist"
5. Was able to go the the new site by typing in
http://svrname/sites/projectserver_xxx
looks great and is using new template as base.
6. Then tried to go back into Project Server and type in the site address
using "Edit Site Address" option and got the error "The web site does not
exist or is not configured for Project Server. Enter a web site that has been
extended with a Project server compatible template"
Why are the 2 products not communicating..? I have no trouble using
sharepoint by itself but once you throw Project Server into the mix it really
is frustrating.
Any ideas....looking for help but have found none so far.
Thanks,
Christine
