sharing a single copy of XP professional

pete

We purchased a single copy of office xp pro and we want
to know if it can be shared with five other computers in
our group. Do I need to purchase a license for each
computer? Where do I go to purchase? i.e what is their
address (internet)
Is this more cost effective than purchasing a copy for
each of our computers? We do not have a network. These
are individually disconnected computers. I called
microsoft and the voice activated tech help informed me
in the activation process I could activate each
computer. I get an error screen stating "this copy of XP
has already been activated" and I cannot activate the
other computers.
I am willing to purchase liscenses for each computer if
this is cost effective (the CD cost me around $200
Can you help me? thanks!

hi Pete,

yes you will need to purchase one licence for every machine that you want to
install it on AFAIK. If you already have the media (CD) then you may be
able to purchase just a licence. Check out
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];cssbjefind&style=toc#
faq885 and you can either look at purchasing online, acquiring a product
licence (which might be your best bet) or from a MS reseller/retailer. They
should be able to help you further with your licensing questions.

Cheers,
Katherine

You need a separate license for each computer. If you read
the EULA, it says can install on one computer only. I
tried to do this for my company. Depending on the size you
can purchase from them more licences/keys. Just send them
an email and give them what you are looking to do. If you
always use microsoft products this is ok. Why not wireless
network if it is small office? Or no need to do so?

You will need a license for each computer, and you will probably find that
with 5+ PCs, that a license pack will be much less expensive.
