Sharing an Excel Workbook in Access

Using Office 2000, Win2k.

I have an Excel Addin which I need to share amongst users.
The Excel ng tells me to use Access for this purpose, rather
than Excel, since data can be 'lost/corrupted' when sharing
under Excel.

Ideally I would like to share the workbook(s) in Access for
users to simultaneously enter data, then export the amended
workbook(s) to Excel for computation, formatting, etc.

Is there any particularly good reference points for this type of
operation under Access, bearing in mind that I'm a complete
Access beginner, please?
