Sharing AutoCorrect files between Office 2008for Mac and Office 2003 for Windows

Processor: intel

I spent quite a bit of time updating the AutoCorrect preferences on my version of Office 2008, and I figured out how to share those changes between Macs.

However, I now need to use those same preferences on a Windows machine that's running Office 2003. Is this even possible? If not with 2003, is it possible with 2007? I work for a school, so Office 2007 is available to me, I just haven't updated because I rarely use the provided Windows computer, but I will if it will make this possible.

I know where the AutoCorrect file and Normal.dotm files are on the Mac, and I've tried using those to replace the Windows versions of those same files, but with no luck.

Well, since no one else has answered, I'll take a stab, but a) I haven't
tested this b) it's not a happy answer c) I'm extrapolating wildly from
half-understood information.

The files don't just copy over, as you found.

This article provides a macro that extracts and imports AutoCorrect
entries across machines. I'm fairly sure (have not tested it myself)
that it can be used for cross-platform exchange.

HOWEVER, the macro will not run in Word 2008, because there is no VBA in
Office 2008. You should be able to get Word 2004 to load your Word 2008
ACL file (I think I know how to do that). Then you can run the macro in
Word 2004 to extract the entries and in Word 2003 or 2007 to import the
entries (the WinWord version should not matter).

If you haven't already redone them all manually, free feel to experiment.
