Sharing contact folders

I'm new to microsoft outlook. I've been trying to find a
simple way to share a contact folder between 5 computers.
Is it true that the only way to do this is to install
microsoft exchange server with windows server? I run
windows xp pro now and seems crazy to have to upgrade to
do something so simple.
