Sharing default template

I run a small office running Office 2000 on Win2000/97. Our secretaries
make extensive use of autotext to type headers on letters.

Is there a way in which the default template (or a custom template) can be
shared and used concurrently between users - ie so that if one user adds a
new autotext entry it will appear on another users PC?

At the moment we have set Tools -> Options -> File locations -> Workgroup
templates to a shared folder. When two users try to use the same templates,
the autotext function stops working.

Many thanks to anyone who can help out.

First, you do _not_ want to be sharing the normal.dot template. That said...

You can keep your AutoText in a shared custom global template. However, the
first person to start Word will be the only one who can add AutoText to that
template. Also, unless the person uses the dialog box and selects your
template for storage of AutoText, it will be stored in that person's
normal.dot.

Consider, instead, setting up one or more letterhead templates that already
have the headers you need built in. These can be stored in your Workgroup
templates and accessed through the File => New dialog.
