Sharing project ownership with multiple PM's

Hello Everyone,

I am getting a lot of requests to make it so that multiple PM's can edit a
project. Currently, only one PM (the owner who published it) can edit the
project and me, since I am an administrator. Is it possible to make it so
that multiple people can edit the same projects? If so, how would that be
accomplished? I do have a RBS implemented if that helps. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Heather McKnight

You need to change the permissions in Project Server to allow all project
managers to open and save one another's projects. Here's how:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Manage users and groups
3. Click the Groups link in the sidepane on the left
4. Select the Project Managers group and click the Modify Group button
5. In the Categories section of the page, select the My Organization
category
6. In the Permissions grid, set the "Open Project" and "Save Project"
permissions to Allow
7. Click the Save Changes button

Do know, however, that only one project manager can have a project open
Read/Write at a time. You cannot have two or three people editing the same
project simultaneously. Hope this helps.

Hello Dale,

Thanks for your response. Based on what you wrote below, that would give
"all" project managers the ability to modify all projects. What I would like
to do is give a special group rights to all the projects managed by that
group. Any ideas?

If that is the case, you would need to create a custom Category that lists
only those projects, and include the custom Category in a custom Group that
contains the project managers in question. Hope this helps.

That was a good idea. It's similar to how I am using a category for "private"
projects. Thanks!
