When I attempt to used a 'Saved Link' created using another individuals log
on
I get this error message.

What causes this? Is the any method on sharing 'Saved Link' between users?

ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd'
Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested
operation requires a current record.

If more than one user needs a custom view saved as a link, then I would
recommend that your Project Server administrator create a custom view for
everyone to use, containing the specifications in the saved link. One of my
classes of IT people tried to shared a saved link between several students,
and could not figure out how to do it, so you are in good company. Hope
this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for the reply,

A funny thing about the Saved links. It seems they are user specific rather
than browser. Would this mean that they are stored on PS?

Hi Dale,

I've tried doing this but the Custom Views do not allow filtering on
enterprise custom fields.
It only allows filtering on enterprise outline codes, which we do not use.

How are we going to create Custom Views by filtering Custom Fields?

Thanks.

Given this limitation of Project Server, my only suggestion would be to
teach all of your PM's how to use the Save Link feature to create their own
custom views that filter the Project Center using fields. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for the quick response. Actually, I have already showe the PM's how
to save links. But one issue that came up was, what if they want to share
the link they've created with the executive group or the it steering
committee, who are in another country and still new to using project server?

I guess my question now is, how can we edit the view variables in the URL of
the saved link so that it displays the same view when clicked by another
user? I tried removing the &FavId=nn in the last part of the URL but still
did not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Abi,

I removed the &FavId section on my Saved Project Center link and it seemed
to work. Which view are you saving. If you give me the details I will try
it out and see if I can get it to work in my environment.

Hi Jonathan,

Here's the URL of my saved link in one profile without the "&FavId=84"

http://localhost/ProjectServer/View...ERF&_cfJ3=&AF=1&DividerPos=742&TimeWithDate=0

Then when I change my profile, it doesn't display the same view...
Ok here's the thing, I have used all three conditions in the Custom Filters,
due to its limitation I also defined another condition within the grid. (by
autofiltering the column)

Example of my filter:
Project phase = design or
project phase = development or
project phase = testing

Then I checked autofilter so I can still create additional filters within a
specific column's custom filter,
project status <> cancelled
project status <> closed

There, so basically I want to create 5 conditions, but since PWA only allots
3 conditions, I have to do the remaining filters within the grid already.

So that's actually my problem right now. Hope you can help me figure this
out.
Thanks again

Hi Abi,

I have tested adding 3 custom filters to my Project Center View and I put on
a set an auto filter value on Finish Date column.

I then saved the link, removed the "&FavIdxx at the end of the link and put
the link in a browser of another windows authenticated user. It opened up
in the correct view with the 3 custom filters but removed the column auto
filter.

Are you not seeing the same thing?

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for testing this with me. I tried it again and yes that procedure
displayed the filtered view but without the column auto filter.

Is there a way to include the column auto filter in the URL?
or is there a view variable that captures this?

Thanks.

Unfortunately I do not know of why this is happening and how to fix it. Is
the only issue that you cannot retain the auto filter settings? Or are you
losing other Saved Link items when you send to someone else?
