Sharing sub-calendars

Hi everyone,

Here is my scenario:

1) i create a sub-calendar within my normal exchange calendar, and let's say i call it "altcal"
2) I right-click on it, select "sharing" and give a test user ownership permissions
3) as the test user on a different computer, i click "File -> Open other users folder", type in my name, and open my calendar
4) And the problem is that as the test user, i can only see my "main" calendar, and not "altcal" that i just created, and so far i have found no way of accessing it.

Is this the way it is supposed to work? e.g. does Entourage even support sharing sub-calendars?

I've googled around for this for nearly half a day, went through Amir's blog, went through entourage.mvps.org and could not find anything. If someone could provide some insight, that would be great. thank you

That's the magic question right there.

Unfortunately, Entourage 2008 only supports sharing the Inbox, primary
Calendar and primary Contacts list. Nothing else.

With the Exchange Web Services version of Entourage due to go into
public beta later this week then we potentially have the possibility to
see these features become available. That's not a guarantee and
Microsoft certainly has not said this will happen. You'll find more
information here:

"What does Entourage for Exchange Web Services mean for you?"
<http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2009...e_for_exchange_web_services_mean_for_you.html>
or <http://tinyurl.com/7x5dtq>.

Please be sure to let Microsoft know you'd like to see this feature in
future versions by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any
Office application.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Bill,

that's what I needed to know. I am keeping my eyes wide open for the Entourage for Exchange web services release -- and if it as you say this week, that is awesome news. I'd like to get us started on testing out this release ASAP, as we will definitely benefit from this.

Entourage through webDAV is not doing it for us.

One more questions thought,

Entourage will allow me to set sharing preferences for sub-calendars and it will also give a a URL on which the calendar is reachable. We have now established that other Entourage users will not be able to see this calendar, but how about Outlook users? Would they be able to, or should i just forget about this "feature" altogether for now?

thanks

Those permissions settings are helpful when allowing delegates access to
your account. They will apply to Outlook users too and Outlook has the
ability to see sub-folders, IIRC.

FYI, just to clarify: I *don't* expect the EWS beta to offer viewing of
sub-folders. I'm just thinking that EWS may allow this at a future date
should Microsoft decide to add that feature to Entourage 2008. They very
well may decide not to add it.

Hope this helps!
