Hello All
I have a network of 4 PCs running W2K and Office97.
When I come to compact the frontend of the main access97 mdb that is used on
each PC, on 2 of the PCs all goes well but on the other 2 I get a message
that there has been a sharing violation and the compacting cannot take
place. If I copy and paste the access frontend mdb file from one of the
'problem' PCs to one of the other PCs, it compacts fine.
I have also noticed that sometimes (but not always!) on the same 2 'problem'
PCs I have been unable to delete certain files, including the access
frontend mdb file - I get a similar message about the file being in use and
so cannot be deleted. When this has ocurred with the access frontend mdb
file, I have checked the the 'locking' file has been cleared, and it has.
I have shut down and restarted all the PCs: no effect.
I have checked that my antivirus and adaware are up to date.
I hope someone can suggest what might be going on here - and what I might do
about it.
Many thanks
Les
