ON 2007 is designed to allow you to share OneNote notes. Such notes can
contain embedded files (e.g. a full Word file). The main fight you'll
have is in setting up the connection. If you can get both PCs connected
via a VPN, then you can use a simple Windows file share to keep them
synced. If not, then you have to look into WebDAV or SharePoint Server
as the place to host your OneNote files.
However, in your scenario, I don't think ON sounds like the solution you
are necessarily looking for. ON is not primarily a mechanism to share
documents, but rather to share notes. If you just want to share
documents, you should look into Groove 2007 as a peer-to-peer solution,
or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 as a client-server solution.
