Shell initializes to minimize only

OS Windows XP Home Edition V 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 :
Service Pack 2
MS Office 2000 Premium
MSWord 2000 9.0.2720

I have used this version for quite some time now and just today the Word
shell began opening in minimize only. The icon will not maximize the shell
by clicking and when clicking the 'normalize' icon in upper right corner of
shell, the program minimizes only. However, if a second instance of Word is
opened it behaves normally. It now only has two views: minimize to tray or
maximize.

Also clicking on the windows logo in the upper left side of screen shows the
popup with options greyed out. I have reloaded MSOffice and a number of
other things to no avail.

Any ideas?

TIA

It sounds like the window is opening off the Desktop.

Here are a few things to try to get it back:

- Open another window, right-click an empty area of the Taskbar and
select "Cascade"

If that doesn't work then:

- Right-click the Word task and click "Restore" if necessary
- Right-click again and select "Move"
- Use one of the arrow keys on the keyboard to "lock in" the move
command
- Use your mouse and see if you can move it back to the Desktop

If the above doesn't work then follow the steps in this article for
recreating the Word\Data key in the Registry. Note that all you need
to do is rename/delete the Toolbars value of the key instead of
recreating the entire key:

Beth;

Thanks that did the trick. I thought something was goofy cause when I would
select "Move" my cursor would go clear off of the desktop. Just did not
know how to re-position the blasted thing. You're a genious!

Thanks again.
