Shell32.dll causing problems

Using Office XP Professional on Windows 98. All the
applications open normally but as soon as you select File--

Open, the application comes back saying it has

encountered problems and needs to close. The same thing
happens with File--> Save. If i view the technical details
it displays module Shell32.dll. Any suggestions, have
already reinstalled Office XP and also reinstalled
Internet Explorer.

Hi Adam,

Without knowing the exact error message, any patches you have
installed for Office, whether or not your files are stored locally or
on a network drive, if a network driver the network OS you are using,
