shift-down does not select text

Hi,

An interestiing problem - in a WORD-97 document, I can use
the shift and (up, right, or left) arrows to select text;
but not shift-down arrow. All other Office-97
applications seem to use the shift-down just fine. This
only started today. I did a reiinstall-missing
components, but not a full install, yet.

Any comments?

A most bizarre problem. First I suggest that you check to see if somehow the
key assignment has changed. Open the Customize dialog, select Keyboard and
in the Type In Keyboard Shortcut box, enter Shift+DownArrow. It should be
assigned to LineDownExtend. If it isn't, reassign it.

Thanks.

I just figured that out, too, and was going to post it
just in case some other poor fool had it happen to them.
It was the key assignment (as my son guessed slightly
after me - just slightly (I don't feel quite as bad as if
he outguessed his old-man).
