Shift + End to select text

With every text editor in the history of mankind, the key combination
Shift + End will select the text from the current position to the end
of the current line. In Word, however, this same combination selects
the entire paragraph.

Similarly, with every text editor in the history of mankind, holding
down Shift while clicking to the right of the current line will select
the text from the current position to the end of the current line. In
Word, however, this also selects the entire paragraph.

Is there a setting that can be unchecked somewhere that will turn this
obnoxious behaviour off? I've dug through the options settings,
unchecking everything with the word "smart" in the title, and nothing
has helped.

Any suggestions?

Try as I might, Jason, I can't duplicate this. My Word 2003 behaves like
any text editor in history.

You may have a keyboard combination for shift+end that selects the whole
parapraph.

You can check those:

1. Alt+Ctrl+F8
2. Keyboard
3. See what command shows up when you press shift+end while cursor in Press
new shortcut key.
4. Reset or change it to the command "Endoflinestended".

Do this to see all shortcuts (2 different results to review):

1. Alt+F8
2. Change Macros in to Word commands.
3. Select List commands.
4. Run

In Word 2003 one can Select any amount of text from a single letter to the
entire document and anything in between by simply
placing the cursor before the beginning of the text, holding the Shift key
down, and placing the cursor at the end of the desired text. This also works
in e-mail.at least in
Outlook Express which is what I use. Good Luck. Stan
