shift + ' is inserting a lot of odd text

I'm editing a new document and almost every time I hit shift+' to get a
quotation mark it gives the quotation mark and then copies in a ton of text
from a document I haven't opened in months. I've cleared the clipboard but I
can't figure out why it's doing this. This problem doesn't happen every time.
Has anyone else encountered this before and how do I stop it from happening
in the future.

Version of Word?

Sounds like this could be AutoCorrect. You might want to check whether this
keyboard combination is set in your Autocorrect list.
