Shift key problem

When |I press my left shift key to make a capital letter, it places a line
before the capital letter. |I do not want this to happen.

Look at your keyboard, on many types the Pipe "|" is right next to the
lefthandside Shift key.
Do a test and make sure you dont tough this key when depressing the Shift key.
Does theis happen in other applications?
If you still get the Pipe, clean the area under these keys as there maybe a
bread-crumb stuff to both.
Come back if your still have problems.
