Shockwave animation

I've added a shockwave animation (.SWF) onto a slide and saved the PPT file.
The animation runs on the first occasion but when I close the file and
re-open it the animation no longer runs. There's just a black box where the
animation should be. In order to get it to run again I have to close down the
PowerPoint program completely and re-open it. Does anyone know if there is
something I can do to correct this problem. Is there an option within the
program or a setting within the properties of the Shockwave object that needs
to be adjusted.

PPT will change Playing Property to False once the SWF reaches the end. See
if this helps...works for me. Extra attention to item 7 to enter the slide
number!

How do you insert the Flash to your presentation? I do it by following
the steps as this tutorial: http://www.sameshow.com/other/insert-flash-into-powerpoint-2007.html#110
and the Flash works well on my presentation, you could try these
steps to insert the SWF file to your presentation, really hope this
could help you.

I tried using the VBA code but it did not solve the problem. I should have
mentioned that I'm using PowerPoint 2003. on XP
Even with the code it does not play unless I exit PowerPoint and reopen it.
I checked that the code is having the desired effect on the Properties by
manually altering the "playing" box to false and then running the code to see
that it correctly changed it to true... but irrespective of that it still
does not play unless I exit PowerPoint and then run it.
By the way it will continue to run properly so long as i do not close the
file. Saving before close does not help either.
I also checked on Tom's point that the "playing" property is set to FALSE
when the animation is finished. In my case this is not so. When I re-open the
file the "Playing" property is still set to TRUE even without running the
macro. Despite that, it will still not run the animation unless i close out
of the program completely and re-start it.

The problem re-occurs if i close the file and re-open it without completely
closing out of PowerPoint first.
