Short File Name

I just completed a new XP install on one of my machines
and installed Office 2000. If I look through my file
structure and open a file that has a Long File Name, when
it opens in word, it places the short file name at the
top, and if I resave it, it renames the file to the short
file name.

Very frustrating, please let me know if there is anything
I can do. I have multiple machines with this same
configuration and none of them are having this issue.

You need to turn off the Compatibility options on Winword.exe. Office
2000 is compatible with Windows XP.

Ope, found a reply, thank you Beth. How do I go about
turning off the compatibility option on winword.exe?

Search for Winword.exe, once found right-click the file and select
Properties. Then select the Compatibility tab and remove the check on
the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option.
