shortcut bar screensaver

The screensaver shortcut in my Office shortcut bar has ceased working.
Clicking on it blanks the screen for a split second and then returns you to
the fully illuminated screen. Originally it functioned properly but at some
point has stopped working correctly. Any suggested fixes?
