Shortcut Bar Shutdown

When I start Outlook Express from a button on the Office
Shortcut bar, Outlook Express opens OK, but the Shortcut
Bar vanishes.
The bar will open again from the Office program group with
no problems.
No other program opened from the bar is followed by the
vanishing trick.
What's the problem? -- it just started a day or so ago.
