Shortcut bar

Our office has upgraded to new pc's running XP as well as Office 2003.

We used to run 2000 Professional with Office XP.

Our corporate office has basically imaged the new pc's and I'm told that
they removed the Office Shortcut Bar option from Office 2003.

Our users relied heavily on this and now with the new environment, it's a
pain to setup these users with shortcuts on the desktop and whatnot.

First question, Does Office 2003 indeed come with the shortcut bar???

If so, I guess I would need a straight copy of the Office 2003 to get this
back for the users??

There is no Office shortcut bar in Office 2003 (any version) Enable the
Windows Quick Launch bar and put the Shortcuts there.

Using the Quick Launch for each individual Office application is just not
acceptable! The Shortcut Bar was a convenient feature, and obviously a lot
people liked it. Its removal from the newer versions of Office was either
an arrogant decision of an obsessed "command line" adherant or it was an
oversight that Microsoft is too embarrassed to admit to.
BRING IT BACK!

PS: By the way, I used it for my most often used applications -- image
processing, genealogy, Notepad, etc. -- a VERY handy device, this Shortcut
Bar...

Don't tell us, we are users just like you. It was "dropped" because
alternatives existed AND it was problematic. You can reinstall your 2002
bar or learn to use the alternatives, but the bar isn't in 2003 OR 2007.
So I would say that it looks pretty slim of it ever seeing the light of
day again.
