shortcut customisation in Word CTRLLeft+SHIFT

R

RLEM

I would like you to explain us how to change, in MS Word, the way to
modify/cancel the effect of CTRLLeft+Shift shortcut. Indeed it modifies my
text orientation from left-to right to right -to-left, which I don't want !!
Indeed I very often use CTRL+SHIFT+left arrow (or right arrow to select the
previous (next) word in a text to delte it. It speed up my typing speed ...
but now I need each time re-set my text orientation to left-to-right !! The
shortcuts customisation in Word doesn't allow me to modify this shortcut !!!!
Suggestion : allow to us to customise it.. or tell us how to cancel this
effect.

Thks a lot for this info/modification .

Hi RLEM,

The Ctrl+Shift+Left arrow is by default set to 'WordLeftExtend'
You can reassign it to that command from Tools=>Customize=>[Keyboard]
by selecting 'All Commands' in the left side list and 'WordExtendLeft'
in the right list and typing in that key combination.

If this is on a corporate computer you may want to speak with your
administrator to see if they've chosen to modify the settings.

Thks for the answer but I knew this already : indeed what you advise to do is
configured by default in Word and is still configured on my PC.

My problem is that when you type CTRLLeft+SHIFT and then release the keys =>
the text orientation is changed to left-to-right. It happens often that you
press CTRLLeft+SHIFT (because you want to type CTRLLeft+SHIFT/left or right
arrow) and stop before typing the arrow key for one or another reason and
then damned the ext orientation has been changed. How to cancel this text
orientation shortcut ?

Hope you understand. Try by yourself maybe.

Cheers

1/ The Ctrl+Shift+Left arrow (by default set to 'WordLeftExtend') is very
useful

Hi RLEM,

If the shortcut is set correctly in Word in
Tools=>Customize=>Keyboard as you mentioned then it sounds
like something outside of Word is interfering. Have you
checked the Keyboard Language/Locale settings in the
Windows Control Panel?

My [regional & language settings>Language>Details] are :
- [Keyboard] = "Belgian (French)" <-> in line with my PC config... (and have
no effect on my problem of CTRL+SHIFT effect)
- [Key Settings] :
- [Switch between input languages] : key sequence = None (for all
languages switch possibilities)
- [Change key sequence] = disabled (for both [switch keyboard layout]
and [Switch input language]). So far I know since a long time, here is the
only place where CTRL+SHIFT effect can be partly tuned... If I set here
CTRL+SHIFT to "switch input language" <=> the undesired effect is doubled :
in word, it changes both the language and the text orientation !!!!!! Dead
end ? Idem if assigned to keyboard layout.

Any idea further ?
