Shortcut for End of Document

P

ptietjen

I'm new to Macs and Office for the Mac and I'm trying to figure out
what the shortcut key is for going to the end of a document. I checked
the documentation/manual and it said Command+End or Option+End, but
neither of these work.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hardware: PowerBook G4
OS 10.3

On a Powerbook the order of hitting the keys matters
press and hold command, press and hold fn, then hit end.
(end is of course a right arrow unless the fn key is down.)

Hi-

Those keystrokes do in fact work, but the problem is most likely that
you are working on a laptop with a different keyboard than a desktop
keyboard would have. I'm not familiar with the PowerBook keyboard, but
the "END" key may have multiple assignments and need to be used with an
additional modifier (such as SHIFT, CONTROL, etc.). If you don't get a
useful reply here, you may want to inquire on the Apple Discussions
Forum where you will find more PowerBook users.

Hope this Helps |:>)

Word has a special "PowerBook" toolbar available especially for us deprived
souls on iBooks and PowerBooks.

Reveal that and you have the Start or Document, End of Document buttons to
replace the keyboard keys you do not have :)

cheers

And if you're keyboard-centric, just hold down the PowerBook's Function key
before applying the keystrokes you saw in Help or a manual.

Clive means the "fn" key. That's the secret to every other keypress on a
laptop. (I'm a little surprised John McGhie seems unaware - he's been on one
Mac laptop or another almost since before I've had a computer...)

I was thinking maybe John recommending the PB toolbar was a joke. That's
the most annoying/useless toolbar in existence, right?

OK, I'll respond!

John, having lots of Windows corpuscles circulating in his blood, may still
have vestiges of "mouse-centric-ness" that characterizes the PC platform far
more than the Mac. That is more likely to be the case since his head has
been turned recently -- by a newly purchased PC that's such a screamer he
has to wear ear protectors!

[I shall quietly close the door before John returns and get out of here.]

Hi Paul:

Oh, he "knew" about it... It's just that with one finger needed in the
usual place, I can't spare three fingers to press keys. So I use the little
floating toolbar :)
