Shortcut for symbols

I am using OneNote for school, and I want to be able to insert symbols
quickly using short cuts keys rather than using the insert menu. Is there a
way to assign a shortcut to certain symbols such as Delta, Pi, or the symbol
for Section? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

You can click Start | Run | charmap. You can see all the symbols you can
insert there.

Here it gets geeky - click the symbol you want (I'm using Calibri font, and
the cents symbol in the fifth row down). See the code down near the bottom:
ALT+0162?

If you type ALT+1062 (4 digits) you'll get the cent sign.

Then it's a process of looking up the symbols you want and getting their
values. If you don't have too many, this works pretty well once you get them
memorized.

There are a few other ways to do this now that I think about it.
Autocorrect could be set up to change [[ to the cent sign, or '' could be the
summation symbol - you could develop your own unique shorthand. If it works
well for a math class or some other class you are taking, post the shortcut
keys online. Someone may be able to use them as well.

I hope these ideas help.
