shortcuts bar - how remove office shortcuts bar

I would like to remove the office shortcuts bar from my desktop as it keeps
appearing whenever my mouse is at the top of the screen.
I am running windows xp and office 2000

Hi, Charlie - you can stop the bar appearing by clicking the little (red,
blue, yellow & green) square in the small, blue section at the very top of
the bar - or on the right if the bar is horizontal. Click 'Exit' when the
menu appears and select 'No' when asked if you want the bar to appear next
time you start Windows.

If this does not work, see my thread after this one where Greg says about
removing the shortcuts from the Startup menu...

thanks for the info..... but for some strange reason the shortcut bar has
disappeared all of its own accord.

must have known we were after it?
