Should I import projects to project server or just publish them

I am new to project server and am confused. We have a series of project
plans which we wish to use project server to centrally manage resource
assignments. Should we just publish the project plans to server or use the
import function. Note that we have not assigned resources yet to the project
plans.

Import the projects individually to make sure they conform to your
organization's standards for Project, Resource, and Task information. Pay
special attention to the page that concerns resources, and make sure you
match each local resource in the project with an enterprise resource in the
Enterprise Resource Pool. Hope this helps.
