Please see this page: http://members.cox.net/daylightdesignstudio

and notice that when you mouseover most of the menu items, the main image
changes. Did it work okay for you? I'm worried that dial-up users won't
notice the effect.

Should I preload these images? If so, do I just put this script in my head
section http://members.cox.net/daylightdesignstudio/preload-daylight.txt or
is there something more I need to do?

OT: I hate designing things for myself... logo, website, etc.. It's so much
easier when it's for a client.

They load alright, but if you're doing a graphic rollover, I would always
preload. You're right, dial-up users may not get the effect correctly. Not
the impression you want to make with prospective clients. :)

One suggestion, make the spacing between your links larger and increase the
height for each link. The height of the link is so small that, when
scanning past the first links to get to say, business forms, you end up with
an almost flickering type of effect because you fire off so many rollovers
in a row.

I like your logo. I can't create anything fancier than a standing stick
figure. :)

Really Nice Victoria! Like Jack I'm not much on the "artistic" side and you
obviously have that down.

The only tiny thing that came to me was that the tool tips for the menu
choices are covering up some of your graphic displays. A VERY minor thing
for sure and I would not have a clue how to change it. (can you tell fp
where to position the tool tip box?) Again, just one small observation based
on the fact that I really liked the graphics so much I hated to wait to see
any of them. :)

AS a dial-up user, there was quite bit of time that I was looking at
a blank page. There are ways around that.

I didn't mind the tips covering the graphics, but that could be
easily fixed by shortening the tips from essays to tips. Too much
information for a tip.

After all the images were loaded the effect worked fine.

Thanks, but I must admit that if you're talking about the lady at the art
table, she's clipart.

Thanks Jack, Tom G, and Jim,

I've added what I think is the right preload script. Does that help?

I've increased the space between the menu items on this page. I couldn't go
too far because I'm trying to keep this page fitting in an 800x600 window
with no scroll bars.

I've shortened the tool tips, you guys were right about that for sure.

Jim, does the whole page take a long time to load?

Like I said, it was blank the first time for a good while. Enough
for me to get bored and nearly leaving. Can't tell now because I'm
sure that some of the stuff is cached.

You seem talented enough, so learn some tricks for throwing
somenthing up fast for us dial up users.

I downloaded a free trial of Web Speed Simulator and saw what JimL meant.

I've changed the background color of all pages to a dull pink to coordinator
with the background image. That seems to show up right away.

I added alt-text and low-res images to the picture properties of the
upperleft logo and the girl at the drafting table.

I tried the page again with the simulator and seems better to me with the
pink background showing up right away, but the low res images don't appear
(is this a legacy feature?????) The logo loads AFTER the girl, which is
annoying. The girl appears in bits, which is probably good.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.
