Show attendee availability does not pickup or show avaialibility

I have a PC running Windows 98 with Office 2000. Outlook
2000 calendar is my present problem and it is a client to
Exchange 5.5

In the Appointments, Attendee Availability tab screen, I
use to be able to enter a user's name and the appointment
would be displayed. Lately, when I enter a user's name
it does not display the appointments. I have to work
around this by using the invite attendees option.

What can I do to get back to the state of entering a
user's name directly into the attendee list ?
