Show blank lines in merge

I upgraded my Word XP to Word 2003 and suddenly my ability to print blank
lines is gone.

I'm merging data from Excel 2003 into a template and lining the data up with
a label that describes that data, such as Name: or Phone:, etc. If the email
data doesn't exist, I want it to merge a blank line so the next mergefield
lines up with the next label.

Is there a way to show blank lines in Word 2003?
