Show Calendar & Task View Side by Side?

I have created a custom Task View that I would like to be able to see side by side with the calendar, in much the same way that I can view 2 calendars side by side. Can I accomplish this?

p.s. I know I can open each in separate windows, but I would really like to be able to do it side by side in the same window if possible. I also of course know I can view tasks next to/below the calendar using one of the built in views. Just pointing this out before I get 10 suggestions about that

No, its not possible. you can only use the taskpad.

Thanks. It is too funny that you answered this! Because what made me think it was possible was this article by you that I found on a Google search. I am only quoting the relevant portion:

Another often requested feature is the ability to display both calendar and task items together in a Day/Week/Month calendar view. If you only need tasks viewed in a calendar, you can create a view for the Task folder that uses a calendar layout. From the View menu | Current View, select Define Views and create a new view. Pick the Day/Week/Month type and customize it, then apply the view to your folder. If you need both calendar items and tasks in one folder, you'll need to create appointments from the tasks.


You can also view calendar and tasks side-by-side in a folder home page or a Web browser. You'll need to create an HTML page that uses the Outlook View Control. An example is available at http://www.poremsky.com/calendar.htm. This example explains how to add a taskpad to a public folder calendar, however it can easily be changed to show a calendar and task folder from a .PST file or mailbox.

Your link in the article no longer works and I could not find what it was referring to at Outlook Tips. So I take it I could not use the method you mention to accomplish what I want? Nor any third party pluging (I do NOT want to combine them on the same calendar aka Taskline).

Whatever the answer, thank you for that article! I had NO idea I could display tasks in a calendar type view and it is hilarious that MS does not make that one of the (many) default views, as I suspect a lot of users would find it unbelievably handy. I have wanted to be able to display my tasks like that for years

A folder home page with separate view controls is the only way but it really
doesn't give you many more options than what you have with the taskpad,
except for the calendar view. (The taskpad is limited to table views and
while you can't apply different views, you can edit the view.) The big
advantage is that its an HTML page and back in the days of ActiveDesktop,
you could show the calendar and tasks as the wallpaper. You could probably
still do it - but unless you keep minimizing everything, it's useless and
you might as well just use outlook.

Cool thanks. Not a big deal to have two windows open. You'd laugh if you knew how long I had wanted to do this until I found your article
