Show details of multiple projects in PWA

Is there a way to show details, such as key milestones, for multiple projects
in one view on Project Web Access? What my client wants is

Project 1 --- date 1, date 2, date 3, etc.
Project 2 --- date 1, date 2, date 3, etc.
Project 3 --- date 1, date 2, date 3, etc.

All in one view in PWA.

How about a filtered view in the project center? You may have to create a project naming scheme or even use a custom enterprise field to acheive it but that's the only place you can see multiple projects in PWA.

Ooops! Sorry Bill. I just re-read your post and realized I didn't help much.

AFAIK, there's no way to show tasks in columns instead of rows as your liking to do. What your asking for is similar to the rollup milestones view that you can get in project pro if you use the rollup formatting utility - but I don't think anything like it is available in PWA.

Maybe I need to lay off the newsgroups for a while. I think I'm getting a little trigger happy. ;>)

That's OK, we're getting warm. What is the rollup formatting utility and
where can I find it?

The Rollup_Formatting macro is a sample macro that ships with/install with project. You should be able to find it in your macros list (Alt+F8) under Global.MPT!Rollup_Formatting. To make it work you have to make sure tasks are marked as rollup tasks. Here's a small sample plan that you could setup to demontrate.

First Activity Group 22 days No Wed 3/9/05 Thu 4/7/05
Task1 5 days Yes Wed 3/9/05 Tue 3/15/05
Task2 15 days No Wed 3/16/05 Tue 4/5/05 2
Task3 2 days Yes Wed 4/6/05 Thu 4/7/05 3
Milestone 0 days No Thu 4/7/05 Thu 4/7/05 4
Second Activity Group 20 days No Fri 4/8/05 Thu 5/5/05
Task4 5 days Yes Fri 4/8/05 Thu 4/14/05 5
Task5 10 days No Fri 4/15/05 Thu 4/28/05 7
Task6 5 days Yes Fri 4/29/05 Thu 5/5/05 8
Milestone 0 days No Thu 5/5/05 Thu 5/5/05 9

After you enter the sample plan show the Rollup column and set the rollup flag for all the tasks (including the summary rows) to "Yes". Then run the macro Global.MPT!Rollup_Formatting and you can see the results.

Basically, it's putting a milestone marker directly on the summary Gantt bar where each task that's marked as a rollup starts. If you remove the rollup flag from any one task the indicator comes off of the summary gantt bar.

Although this is available in project pro I don't think there's any mechanism available to you in PWA (besides custom coding your own pages - which I'd hate to even start thinking about) to accomplish anything similiar there.

Hope that helps.

Bill,

In addition to what I posted earlier about accessing the rollup formatting utility, you can go into the formatting options after you've run the macro and change the text on the gantt bar to show the start date instead of the task name, which is another step closer to what your original question was, I think.
