Show/Hide Gridlines not Available in Word 2000

In any new doc. created, show/hide gridlines feature is
not available. All the sp's have been installed, checked
the drawing toolbar- draw-grid-Display gridlines on
screen is turned off. This feature is greyed out in the
normal.dot template. The normal.dot template has not
been altered in any way- this is a fresh install.

Thanks

There may be some confusion here. If you're talking about Show/Hide
Gridlines on the Table menu, this is available only when the insertion point
is in a table. The "Display gridlines on screen" feature on the Draw menu is
something entirely different.

I'm talking about from within a table and the insertion
point is within the table. I mentioned the drawing
toolbar as it was referenced in another posting.
I am not unique as several of our users are experiencing
this problem.
Thanks

I meant the feature is greyed out. It is showing on the
menus for all affected users.

Actually, this command should be available whether you're in a table or not
and even if the document is protected for forms. I would suggest that you
send the users to the article I recommended
(http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/RestoreMenuCmd.htm) and have them
add the menu item from scratch. If the newly added menu item works as it
should, they can delete the dysfunctional one.

Thanks for your suggestions. However it appears to be
associated with SP3 as this is not an issue with those
users who have not been upgraded to SP3.
