Show More Than 30 Days of Appointments

I have tried command line switches, todo bar options, you name it. i cannot
get my ToDo Bar to show appointments more than 30 days in the future. that's
what i really want to show: all appointments from 30 minute from now to
infinity. Can anyone help? I'm using Outlook 2007 under XP S2.

Nothing is impossible, it just needs to be fixed. Therefore, will this be
fixed in a future version? If not, Microsoft is composed of dial tones in a

Everything has limits, it is merely a matter of where and why. Also ,
please be aware that this is solely a user to user newsgroup, and not
Microsoft employees posting here.

I'm not expecting it to be expanded - it's a to-do list and few people would
put an items occurring 30 days (or more) out on their to-do list.

What I do fully expect to change is all day events - I'll be shocked if they
aren't on the to-do list in the next version.

I guess I'm just the type of person who has long-range plans and vision.
Here's hoping Microsoft takes my concerns into consideration.

Microsoft did, the rest of us call it a Table View of the calendar.

Bob,

As I was curious about your post, I opened my Calendar, went to View,
/Current View/Active Appointments - voila! All appointments from now to
infinity show there.

Well, you can only have 25 max on the list and most users hit 25 long before
30 days are up.

A table view will work better for long term planning.

Why not? If you have a task that needs to be done on a specific day in
the future, where better a place to put it then a to-do list?

I've got everything from quarterly contact reviews to insurance renewals
to reminders to book flights, some one-off items are 2-3 years out
(action that needs to be taken just prior to a contract's expiry date)

Tasks are ideal for this type of thing, especially since with an
appropriately constructed view they disappear entirely until the "start"
date, but still have their own due date for items that need to be done
within a specific range.

Remember, the To-do list as seen in Outlook 2007's right pane supports a
maximum of 25 appointments (and displays even fewer based on your window
height) and not too many people have fewer appointments over the next 30
days than the max their window can display.

For the typical business user, the to-do shows just the next couple of hours
to a week of appointments. They don't have room to show then next 90 days of
appointments in the to-do bar. If they need to see a list, they use a table
view. (My window can display 17 if I turn off tasks and nav calendars.)

Tasks may be ideal for reminding you before a contract is due, but that
doesn't mean you should put 'renew insurance on 12/8/2010' on your current
to-do list. That is something you'd want on the to-do list in the last month
before it expired so you could compare prices or plans. If you need to
remind yourself of what is coming up down the road, switch to a table view
in the calendar folder.
