Show number of unread messages in task bar

Hi,

I keep my outlook minimized to task bar while working. Currently it shows an
clock icon with Inbox-mirc.. next to it. Is there a way to have number of
unread messages shown next to Inbox? Thanks.

Nope, as the amount of unread items isn't exposed in the title bar of
Outlook.
What are you trying to achieve with this?

Like yahoo email, when I minimize inbox to task bar, it will show number of
unread messages like (1 unread) so I will know when to open up the email and
check on it. For outlook, I want the same function otherwise, I have to keep
on opening up outlook to check if there is new mail.

There's a New Mail icon that should appear in the Systray when you get new
mail - I thought it was on by default.
In Outlook 2007 do Tools-Options-Preferences-Email Options-Advanced Email
Options and make sure the "Show an Envelope Icon in the Notification area"
is checked..
AFAIK prior versions are similar.

And if you don't want to rely on a tiny icon down in the system tray to
alert when you get a new e-mail, create a rule with the "notify me"
clause to tell you there is new e-mail.
