You'll have to explain what you're talking about, Hugh. I have absolutely no
clue what you're asking. What's the context? What version of Access are you
using? Are you expecting Access to create a customized chart for your tables,
incorporating all your desires and intentions, automagically?

In design view, click and select to bring up the data view,
(it looks like a spreadsheet) then change the data. You
have to type it in.

This is a saved set of data which is used in design view.
You can change it to anything.

You can't use live data in design view - there is no attachment
to the Access data until you change the form or report to a data
view. This is an Access limitation. Forms and Reports don't
show live data in design view.

But the chart doesn't have a 'design' view like the Access
design view. It is always shows any data it has. Because it
can't get at your real data, it uses sample data when the
form or report is in design view. But you can change the
sample data to anything.
