show repairs: revision data removed

I have a ~156 page word doc, edited by multiple authors,
some using Word 2000, others using Word 2003.

Lately, when a certain Word 2003 user opens the file,
makes a minor change, and then saves, the file appears to
become corrupted.

Now when any Word 2003 user attempts to open the file,
the "Show Repairs" dialog box appears, with the
message "Revision Data Removed". If any Word 2000 user
attempts to open the file, it won't open and a dialog box
appears saying "The document name or path is not valid..."

Does anyone know what might be going on here? I couldn't
find any of these keywords in the MS Knowledge Base.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I've noticed that
when this file is saved from Word 2000 it is about 2MB in
size, and when saved from Word 2003, it is ~4 MB in size.

Thanks,
Brian

Try using the Open and Repair option in Word 2003 as this will probably
indicate what is corrupt.

As I mentioned, when a Word 2003 user attempts to open
the corrupted file, the repair algorithm runs
automatically, and the "Show Repairs" dialog box appears,
with the message "Revision Data Removed".

I've also discovered the file is only corrupted under
Word 2003 SP1. Using Word 2003 without SP1 installed,
there is no issue.

Is any of this info useful in diagnosing the issue?

Thanks, Brian
