Showing abandoned tasks

B

Question: I am using MS project 2000.
I have tasks A, B, C, D that are due on Tuesday 08/31.
On Wednesday 09/01 A and B are done, but C and D are not.
Tasks C and D are a type of task that cannot be done later (other, new tasks
will be scheduled ... C and D are not pushed out for completion later).
However, I do not want to delete C and D. I want to show them as "not done"
but I'd like to be able to show them in the same filters as completed tasks.
Any best practices / recommendations for dealing with this?

Thanks

Well, showing them as "not done" yet in same filters as completed tasks
means you have to change the filter definition for completed tasks.
Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

The default rules for "completed tasks" is along the lines of "if
%complete=100% or (%work complete =100% and assignment=yes)".

Maybe define one of the Flag fields to be named "Abandoned" show as
"yes" and then add an "or" rule to "completed tasks" along the line of
"if 'Abandoned' = yes". Also show remaining work for that task as zero.
The new flag field lets you 'remember' this a is an abandoned task
that was never completed as originally scoped, but definition is
complete since there is no work planned.
