Showing Critical Path Progress

My program won't allow any progress to be shown for a critical path.

Under Format, Bar Styles. I've got set Progress Critical, Actual Start and
complete through. However, when I add progress to a critiacl activity it
doesn't display any progress. But if I select row 2, the progress is shown
below the critical activity.

Has anybody come across this before and what am I missing!

Suggestions would be appreciated.

The display for critical task is no different than for normal tasks and
summary tasks. Project simply "looks" at the Critical field to determine
when to apply critical task formatting. If you do see the progress line
when it is shown on row 2, that tells me the format for critical tasks
is probably shown on top of the progress line, thus hiding it. Just for
reference, the Format/Bar Styles hierarchy is last to first, that is,
the last bar format in the list is shown on top of earlier bars in the
list - if there is a conflict of space.
