Showing delays

I need to see the delay of a task, meaning that I need MS Project to
calculate how much time elapsed from task finish to a later date. Also, it
would be very useful to add to that delay also the duration corresponding to
outstanding work of that task.
Is there a solution to this? Thanks

George,
Are you talking about setting up the plan (inserting delays where
appropriate), or monitoring the plan performance (comparing plan to
actual)? For the former, include lag or "filler tasks" in the plan when
it is developed. For the latter, the Start Variance, Finish Variance and
Duration Variance fields show the difference between the original plan
and the actual (baseline versus current schedule). You did set a
baseline, right?

Hi John,

I have been following this thread. I have a project plan that has a baseline
and now in the middle of the gantt.
Could you tell me in brief the best way to:

1) Change start dates --> eg. input/change the start date directly? Suppose
Task1 starts 2 days ahead or after the planned date.

2) Suppose Task2 starts on the scheduled date but gets delayed over the
entire period. eg. it has reached only 50% of its task after the scheduled 10
days. The planned duration was 10 days but after 10 days, only 50% of the
task has been completed. What is the best way to change this -- eg. change
"days" or "finished date"!

Regards,
Dip
