showing document variable in a graphics text box?

Andre

First of all, again thank you for those who've helped me; great job.

I think I'm down to the last details of this project. I have a
graphics box depicting the variables that the user entered/chosen in a
form above. I would like to see a field in the graphics change along
with what was chosen by the user. For example, if the form asks for
the radius of a circle, I would have a picture of a circle with an
arrow from the center point to the edge and I would like to add a text
box next to the arrow with the radius entered by the user. I tried
inserting a field in a text box within the graphic, but that doesn't
work. Is there a way to do this?

Thank you very much,

Hi Andre,

Version of Word?

What kind of field did you try to insert? Please show us the code you've
tried to use. HOW does it not work? Can you insert the type of field
you're interested in using Insert/Fields (to determine whether this is
something Word won't allow you to do)

Hello Cindy,

I am using Office XP. There really isn't a code I'm trying to use
besides converting a dropdown menu user selection into a document
variable. Within the text, I can do Insert/Field/Document
Automation/DocVariable and that field will change according to what
selection has been chosen by the user in the dropdown (or in the
fill-in text form field). So now that I have a working Document
Variable, I want to do an Insert/Field into a textbox in a graphic
within the document.

One example would be if I ask the user the width and length of
rectangle, I want to show that width and length of the rectangle on a
picture of rectangle already built in to the document. What I've
tried is to creat a textbox in the graphics and the Insert menu is
grayed out.

Either I'm not doing this right, or there must be a different way to
show a Document Variable within a graphic.

Thank you very much.

Hi Andre,

Well, a couple of observations:
Fields don't update very well in text boxes (or other graphical
objects). Generally, a frame is more reliable in this respect. You may
want to try the "INsert frame" command on the FORMS toolbar
