showing file path automatically

I would like all documents when created to automatically show the filename and path (the defaukt) and then deselct for printing if I do not want it to show onthe doc. I know how to make a header or footer to show this but I do not know how to make it show as default. AIs it in prefernce settings? or How ?

You need to create a custom template in which you insert the "Filename and
path" AutoText entry ({ FILENAME \p } field). Do *not* do this in
Normal.dot, as it will adversely affect labels and other documents based on
Normal.
