I've just discovered a trick that took many hours to research. It may
well be that I'm the only one on the planet that didn't know this, but
I want to share it anyway.
I wanted to create a Word template with graphics (rules, colored
boxes, etc.). I opened a new document, placed the graphics, and saved
it as a .dot. Then I opened a new document based on the template, and
there were the graphics. So far, so good. However, when I added
additional pages to my document, the graphics remained only on the
first page. I wanted them to appear on every page. I took forever to
figure out how to make this happen.
The solution: In making your template, switch to the view showing
headers and footers.
1. View -> Header and Footer
2. Insert one or more text boxes and insert or create graphics within
them.
3. Close the Header/Footer toolbar.
That's it. The graphics will appear on every page of any document
based on this template.
Hope this helps someone.
