Shut down Outlook.exe process?

B

Bill Cohagan

I have several applications that seem to "grab" Outlook and keep it open
even after I "close" outlook in the UI. I understand the need for this
(ActiveSync, etc.); however I sometimes need to make Outlook go away; e.g.,
to reopen using a different profile.

I know how to kill Outlook.exe process via the Task Manager, but am looking
for a cleaner way to do this -- so Outlook doesn't complain when I open it
next and try to "repair" the pst file...

Any way to do this?

Thanks,
Bill

Try Knockout from http://www.sunflowerhead.com - it is a small system tray utility built by Jensen Harris (yes, that Jensen of the new Office UI) that will kill Outlook and also has additional neat features. It works with all versions of Outlook from 2000 on, at least.
