Shut down with multiple applications

When I've got 2 applications open, either, word and
access or excel and access, the system allows me to go
between the 2 fr a couple of hours then it locks up. The
fan in the computer gets louder and the system just
crashes. I then have to shut down without being able to
go through the proper procedure. The computer
manufacturer (Dell) says it's a software problem. The
computer is only 2 months old and I work from home 1 day
a week, therefore, I need it to be reliable. Can you
offer any advice.

IF the fan gets louder- How does that qualify as an Microsoft Office
software issue. If this is a laptop, make sure the cooling vents are not
blocked. Otherwise have another talk with the Dell Technician.
