Shutting Down and Reopening

It is a nice feature that now when Outlook performs an unwanted shutdown it
automatically opens up again. My only question is why not get rid of the shut
down problem? I also like the fact that you seem to have suspended the "Thank
you" message spam that accompanied reporting errors (making us click to get
rid of yet another message dozens of times a day).

Aren't you folks concerned that some of us are going to get fed up with
working on unstable applications? The office monopoly won't last forever if
you don't address these stability problems. (and it isn't my computer... I've
had several computers in recent years and work with collegagues who all
experience these frustrating stability problems with office).

p.s., I include in these comments both Office 2003 and Office 2007 - 2007
actually seems a bit better but I'm terribly disappointed that the
applications still find it necessary to crash several times a day...

Sounds like you are running in an unstable environment then. It is hard to
remember the last time Outlook 2003 crashed for me.

What is logged about the crash in the Event Viewer?
What add-ins are you running?
What account type are you using?

If you take a look around in this newsgroup you'll see that most of the
crashes can be ascribed to add-ins and more particular; anti-virus scanners
that do a poor job integrating with Outlook (basically all of them). Many
many times we have advised to turn this off as it is redundant; the Outlook
default security features + an on-access scanner = enough!
