Side by side installations

Long story short... My wife got an IMac and we had a tech guy hook
them up to an Airport Extreme. We installed my Office Mac 2004 on her
machine and quickly learned that whichever machine opened Word last
wouldn't have any word processing; as Office perceives only one valid
license. So, I sent away for a new-license, full copy of Word 2004 and
installed it on my Mini. (I'm a writer, and seldom use Excel or PPT.)
So far so good.

However, that installation has apparently rendered Excel and PPT from
my Office 2004 non-functioning--whether or not my wife is using either
program on her Mac. (Fortunately, my old Office 2001 still works in
the Classic environment.)

How can I get Office 2004's Excel and PPT to function side by side
with a new-license copy of Word? Any ideas? A certain way to reinstall
them both?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

When you install, you need to say "No" to the Installer's kindly offer to
"Remove" the old versions :)

After that, both versions of Office will work just fine. (If you have
removed Office 2004, re-install Office 2004 and do NOT forget to re-apply
all the updates after you put it back in...)

Be very careful not to allow two versions of Entourage to run at the same
time. If you mistakenly allow that, one or other may crash, but 2008 may
also reformat your identity so the other can't read it.

You will need to use the Finder to correct the file associations so that a
double-click opens files in your preferred version of each application.

Hope this helps
